Prof Rombauts is the Group Medical Director for Monash IVF Group, an international group performing more than 18,000 cycles per year. Prof Rombauts is the Vice-President of the Fertility Society of Australia. He is the current President-elect of the World Endometriosis Society and a Trustee of the World Endometriosis Research Foundation. 

He currently holds an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University and as Head of the Reproductive Medicine Clinic at Monash Health. He has published over 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals and many book chapters and holds two patents. His main research interests include endometriosis and embryo implantation. 

He was the Program Chair of the 2008 World Congress on Endometriosis, the Co-Chair of the 2011 World Congress of Human Reproduction and the Convener of the 2018 Fertility Society of Australia meeting in Melbourne. He is an advisory member to Endometriosis Australia and the National Action Plan for Endometriosis.
