Clinical Associate Professor Cooper is a gynaecologist in private practice in Sydney. He is currently a Visiting Medical Officer and Head of endoscopic surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has appointments to St Vincent's Private Hospital and St Luke's Hospital. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sydney University Head of Gynaecology at St Luke's Hospital and is accredited at GENA - world leaders in fertility. Clinical Associate Professor Cooper graduated from Sydney University in 1984 and became a specialist gynaecologist in 1991. He received the Chenhall Award from the University of Sydney enabling him to work for two years as a clinical research fellow in endoscopic surgery in England and France. Several months were then spent visiting the most advanced endoscopic surgical units in the USA. In 1996 he was appointed Head of Endoscopic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and in 1997 became a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sydney University. 

His major interest is in the treatment of endometriosis for both pain and infertility. He is involved in the training of medical students and junior doctors in specialist training and runs the endoscopic division of the gynaecological service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He initiated one of the early endoscopic training centres for gynaecologists in Australia at Liverpool Hospital.

Clinical Associate Professor Cooper has been the author of over 40 scientific articles and book chapters and has spoken widely within Australia and overseas. He has been an invited surgeon to several hospitals in Australia and Asia and is a visiting Associate Professor at Sun Yat-Sen University, Guanghzou, China. He is actively involved in ongoing research into the treatment of endometriosis.

He has been an advisor to the World Heath Organisation on research and training in gynaecological endoscopic surgery and has performed over 1500 advanced laparoscopic procedures.Clinical Associate Professor Cooper is married with 3 sons & enjoys bike riding, sailing and the outdoors.
